Charles Rosa steps in on three days’ notice to fight TJ Brown at UFC Vegas 46

Charles Rosa has stepped up on short notice and got a new UFC contract out of it.

Early Wednesday morning, it was revealed Gabriel Benitez was out of his UFC Vegas 46 fight against TJ Brown. Shortly thereafter, the promotion offered the fight to Rosa who jumped at the chance to take the fight and even got a new four-fight deal with the UFC. MMA reporter, Ariel Helwani was the first to report the news while MyMMANews has since been able to confirm the news.

Charles Rosa (14-6) is coming off a decision loss to Damon Jackson back in October. The Boston native has alternated wins and losses since joining the promotion in 2014 as he has a record of 5-6 inside the Octagon. Although he has struggled to find consistency, he does hold notable wins over Kyle Bochniak, Manny Bermudez, and Kevin Aguilar while he also fought Yair Rodriguez to a split decision at UFC 188 in 2015. Some of his losses have also come to some of the best in Shane Burgos and Bryce Mitchell.

TJ Brown (15-8) picked up his first UFC win last time out as he beat Kai Kamaka III by split decision, although it was controversial. Prior to that, the Glory MMA and Fitness product was submitted by Jordan Griffin in his debut and suffered a decision loss to Danny Chavez in his second appearance. Brown earned his way into the UFC with a submission victory over Dylan Lockard on the Contender Series in 2019.

With the addition of Charles Rosa vs. TJ Brown, UFC Vegas 46 is as follows:

  • Rogerio Bontorin vs. Brandon Royval
  • Jake Collier vs. Chase Sherman
