Live from The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nevada, Chris Colbert will take on Hector Luis Garcia in about that has some serious title implications.
Colbert was originally scheduled in a title bout against current WBA Super Featherweight Champion Roger Gutierrez. Gutierrez, unfortunately, had to pull out of the fight due to testing positive for COVID-19. Colbert still has a fight however, now he will take on Hector Luis Garcia in a title eliminator bout.
Colbert, who has quite a lot of hype on his name, is riding in with an undefeated record of 16-0 (6 KOs). In his most recent outing, he defeated Tugstsogt Nyambayar in a rather one-sided unanimous decision. In fact, nearly all of Colbert’s fights have been dominant and against elite opposition, which makes him an extremely promising title contender.
It’s fair to say that Colbert has all the goods. He is extremely well-rounded with quick hands and combinations. The cherry on top is he is confident and a showman. In a recent interview with Brian Campbell, he stated that he was just born that guy, and it definitely seems like it.
On Morning Kombat, Brian Campbell also stated that Colbert is “a promising guy who is coming on.” He definitely is, but his opponent this Saturday cannot be overlooked.
Garcia, who is coming in on late notice, is also undefeated with a record of 14-0 (10 KOs). The Dominican 2016 Olympic boxer is not a guy that should be taken lightly. He has a real shot to put it on Colbert and assert himself as the next title contender.
With Chris Colbert vs Hector Luis Garcia as the main event on Saturday night, the rest of the card is equally as exciting. It will also feature Gary Antuanne Russell vs. Viktor Posto in a Super Lightweight bout. Additionally, Jerwin Ancajas will attempt to defend his IBF Super Flyweight belt against Fernando Martinez.
