Chris Curtis calls out Dricus Du Plessis following UFC 282

UFC middleweight contender Chris Curtis called out fellow top-ranked fighter Dricus Du Plessis following their wins at UFC 282.

Curtis knocked out Joaquin Buckley on the UFC 282 preliminary card, while Du Plessis defeated Darren Till via third-round submission on the main card. Both men are currently ranked in the top 15, so a fight between the two makes a lot of sense, especially since they are on the same timeline. If you ask Curtis, that’s exactly what he wants to see happen.

Speaking to MMAFighting.com’s The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani following UFC 282, Curtis said that he wants to fight Du Plessis next. In fact, Curtis even took it one step further and said that he hopes that they get to fight each other in a five-round headliner.

“Just from even this weekend and everything going on at middleweight, I would be surprised if it wasn’t Dricus Du Plessis. We were supposed to fight once, before this weekend we were ranked one apart, I think, he should get a little bump, top-10 maybe, but I’ll be, maybe, 14, so I’m surprised if that doesn’t happen. I think it’s a really fun fight still. It sucked that it got cancelled before because I got hurt, but I think it’s still a really fun fight. Dricus is a f***** unit. That’s an athletic South African man right there. So I’d be shocked if that wasn’t it. And if it is it, I’d love to get a main event on a Fight Night card. I want a five-round fight with him. That would be crazy,” Curtis said.

There are plenty of contenders at 185lbs, so there’s no guarantee this is the next fight, but there is certainly a chance, and if this is the fight, it would definitely be an exciting one.

Do you want to see Chris Curtis fight Dricus Du Plessis next following UFC 282, and who do you think would win?
