Ciryl Gane knows Tai Tuivasa is ‘really dangerous,’ plans to use his footwork to win at UFC Paris: ‘Touch and never get touched. That’s it’
Ciryl Gane is well-aware that Tai Tuivasa has a ton of KO power which is why the Frenchman has to be very focused in their UFC Paris main event.
UFC Paris will not mark the first time Gane fight someone with one-punch KO power as he has competed against both Francis Ngannou and Jairzinho Rozenstruik. However, the Frenchman says Tuivasa is really dangerous and with that, he believes his footwork will be key to getting his hand raised.
“He’s really dangerous, and everybody knows this. And he proved it. He’s on a good run,” Gane said at UFC Paris media day. “He finished every opponent. He’s really dangerous in his striking, so I must be focused. (I’ll use) ‘Bon Gamin’ style: the footwork, manage distance, touch and never get touched. That’s it.”
Although Ciryl Gane believes Tai Tuivasa is extremely dangerous, ‘Bon Gamin’ is confident he will get his hand raised and return to the win column. Not only does Gane think he will beat the Aussie on his home turf, but the Frenchman believes he will finish the fight as he plans on throwing more volume and eventually getting Tuivasa tired and catching him with something big.
“I want to put more volume than usual,” Gane said. “So I want to stop the fight before the end because we will probably be really tired together, both, and I expect this kind of fight. A lot of people compare him with Derrick Lewis, but he’s not exactly the same. He can land more punches, make more pressure, (and has) more conditioning, also. So that’s why I say he’s dangerous.”
If Gane defeated Tuivasa and finishes him as he says, his next fight could very well be for the heavyweight title once again. For now, however, his focus remains on Tuivasa and winning on Saturday.
