Claudio Puelles had a lot of unfamiliar territory in the lead up to his UFC Vegas 28 fight with Jordan Leavitt.
For starters he was coming off a long lay off as it was his first fight since 2019. That lay off was caused due to the COVID-19 pandemic which his home country of Peru is still being hit hard by.
With all of that going on, Puelles made the decision to get out of his home country and train in the United States at Sanford MMA in south Florida. While it was a new gym in a new country, Puelles couldn’t of been happier with the move as he claims he’s had the best camp of his life and he already can’t wait to get back to the gym.
Not only did Puelles have a great training camp, but he also picked up a unanimous decision win over Leavitt in the first fight of the UFC Vegas 28 card.
Following the win, Puelles spoke in depth to MyMMANews about the win, his move to Sanford MMA and how proud he is to be representing Peru as he is currently the only fighter from Peru on the UFC roster.
