Cody Law discusses his upcoming fight at Bellator 297

Cody Law doesn’t like to lose and after a few tough breaks on the judges scorecards, he is making sure that the judges won’t be involved in his next fight.

First at Bellator 282, Law was on the losing end of a close decision against James Gonzalez.

Then in his next fight at Bellator 289, Law would end up on the losing end of a controversial split decision loss Cris Lencioni.

The fight was controversial as Law secured a lot of takedowns, but the judges gave Lencioni more credit for submission attempts off his back. Also, Law clearly won the opening round of the fight, but one judge scored the round in favor of Lencioni.

All of that is now in the past and Law is dwelling on what happened in those tough outings.

He is aware that with wins in those fights, he’d be considered one of the best featherweights in Bellator’s division but Law knows he’ll be in that position sooner rather than later and he’s planning on making that run towards the top right now.

At Bellator 297, Law returns to the Bellator cage to take on Edwin Chavez.

Law is always focused on getting a finish, but now after what he experienced in his last two outings, he is all dialed in on making sure this fight won’t go the full 15 minutes.

In fact, Law’s preparation for this fight has lead to him being the most well rounded he’s ever been.

For the past seven weeks or so, Law has been training at American Top Team like he usually does before his fights, but his real big growth came before his training camp.

Before arriving in Florida, Law spent more time back home in Pennsylvania. While being home on the outskirts of Pittsburgh, Law spent his time training one specific component of the sport at time.

Rather than constantly mixing everything together, focusing on each individual discipline of the sport as really helped sharpen his tools, especially in the boxing department.

Law had never felt better and now all that’s left to do is to get back on getting into the win column on fight fight night.

Prior to Bellator 297 on June 16, Law spoke with MyMMANews about his matchup Chavez, his training back in Pennsylvania and Florida, his mindset following his losses and being a fan of the hit Netflix show Stranger Things.
