Colby Covington on FOX News: “I lost because I’m a Trump supporter”

Colby Covington is doubling down. After being outclassed against Leon Edwards in his third bid at the undisputed title, he is insisting that he won the fight. On FOX News, Covington said that he believed that he lost the fight because he is a Trump supporter.

Colby Covington lost because he’s a Donald Trump supporter?

Nevermind the fact that Dana White, the president of the UFC, is a friend of Donald Trump and that Trump consistently turns up at UFC events. Colby Covington seems convinced he won the fight at UFC 296 and was wrongly handed a loss.

In his post fight press conference, Covington had these remarks:

I thought I had the win. I thought I did enough but y’know, the judges have never favored me. They hate me because I support Trump and y’know everyone hates Trump in this building so y’know it is what it is. Life goes on.

Now on FOX, he doubles down saying that the establishment wants him held back, be it shadow  banning on social media or denying the UFC title to a challenger.

Regardless of what your opinion on Donald Trump and Colby Covington is, it’s hard to deny how wild this claim is. The host of the show admitted that he didn’t watch the fight and it looked like he won on paper.

Any reasonable person that watched the fight will admit that the fight was about as one sided as the judges deemed it.

Covington may be playing a character and it may get him a spot on FOX News, which would be a better landing spot for him than the WWE. Maybe he will parlay his UFC success to that type of career. But claiming he was robbed has to be the funniest statement he’s insisted on since becoming this new persona.
