Jakub Kaszuba discusses winning the PFL European lightweight title

Jakub Kaszuba is now the PFL Europe champion and putting on three great performances in the PFL Europe tournament.

Kaszuba opened the tournament in July by earning a first round submission win over Maxim Radu.

After that win, Kaszuba fought Dylan Tuke in September and while Tuke did a lot of talking in the lead up to the fight, it was Kaszuba who got to do all the talking afterwards as he deleted Tuke by a unanimous decision.

That brought Kaszuba to the PFL European finals earlier this month where in took on John Mitchell.

The fight started out with Mitchell landing a big knee that hurt Kaszuba, but Mitchell didn’t put Kaszuba away and he didn’t have the gas take to last the fight.

In the second round as Mitchell faded, Kaszuba picked up the pressure and eventually finished Mitchell to earn a TKO win.

The win was sweet for Kaszuba as he earned a belt, a one hundred thousand dollar check and is now 11-0 has a professional fighter.

Now the question becomes, what’s next?

Originally, the plan was to become a member of the PFL global roster and next year fight in their regular season in the hopes of making the playoffs, winning the tournament and earning a one million dollars.

With the the PFL now buying out Bellator, Kaszuba isn’t sure if that is still the next step and while he hopes it is, he’s just focused on training and his life outside of the cage.

Kaszuba trains in Jacksonsville, Fla. with a number of high level guys like UFC heavyweight and former NFL player Austen Lane and the gyms owner Preston Parsons.

When Kaszuba was still a young kid, his family moved from Poland to the United States and Kaszuba loves being in Florida.

Of course, the weather is nice, but Kaszuba also has a full time job as an auditor which he loves and he also met the love of his life, who he recently married.

Having his family around is very important to him and his wife and parents attend every one of his fights.

With all of the success he’s been having, his family will have a lot more events to attend in the future.

Following his championship win, Kaszuba spoke with MyMMANews to discuss his PFL European title, living in the United States, looking up to Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Jan Blachowicz and his future plans.
