Conor McGregor confirms Dustin Poirier trilogy: ‘Adjust and absolutely f*****g destroy’

Conor McGregor is looking forward to his upcoming trilogy with Dustin Poirier.

On Friday, it was revealed Poirier signed his bout agreement to face McGregor on July 10 at UFC 264. It was reported that McGregor was already in but hadn’t signed the contract. Now, however, on Saturday morning, the Irishman took to social media to confirm the trilogy was a done deal.

“The fight is booked! July 10th you’re gonna see what the Mac is about. Adjust and absolutely fucking destroy! #BilliStrut,” McGregor tweeted.

The news is no doubt exciting for many MMA fans who will be excited to see McGregor back in the Octagon. He wanted to be active in 2020 but due to the pandemic that didn’t come to fruition. However, in 2021, the Irishman will be fighting more regularly as he will fight twice within the first seven months and could very well have a title fight by the end of the year if he gets past Poirier.

In the trilogy, as McGregor says he needs to adjust. In the rematch at UFC 257, Poirier used leg kicks to hurt the Irishman’s leg and limit his movement. Once his leg was gone, Poirier started going up top and landed heavy shots and eventually hurt him and knocked him out to get arguably the biggest win of his career. If McGregor can check the leg kicks and change some things up there is a chance he can exact his revenge on July 10.

Before the loss to Poirier, McGregor made his return to the Octagon and scored a 40-second TKO win over Donald Cerrone at welterweight at UFC 246. It marked his return to the sport after he was submitted in the fourth-round by Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight title. It was a chance for the Irishman to reclaim his lightweight title but he was dominated by the Russian in their fight.
