Curtis Blaydes vs. Alexander Volkov headlines UFC Fight Night event on June 20

Curtis Blaydes and Alexander Volkov is officially headlining UFC Fight Night event on June 20. 

The heavyweight bout was mentioned first during the UFC on ESPN 9 broadcast this past Saturday, June 30. The promotion announced the heavyweight matchup on social media today, Wednesday, June 3.

The two were originally slated to be the main event of the UFC Saskatoon event on the same date. The event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There is no official location, but will most likely take place at UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. UFC 250 is taking place at the Apex this Saturday, June 6.

Blaydes is on a three-fight win streak, most recently finishing Junior Dos Santos via second-round TKO at UFC on ESPN+ 24 on Jan. 25. He also defeated Justin Willis and Shamil Abuakhimov. 

His win ended after a first-round TKO loss to Francis Ngannou at UFC Fight Night 141 in November 2018. 

Volkov re-entered the win column in his last fight. He defeated Greg Hardy by unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN+ 21 in November 2019. It came after suffering a third-round TKO loss to Derrick Lewis at UFC 229 in October 2018. 

Volkov won six-straight fights before his first UFC loss, including four victories in the octagon.
