Cynthia Calvillo returns to strawweight in June

Per UFC News Alerts, Cynthia Calvillo will be returning to the strawweight division to take on Brianna Fortino (formerly known as Brianna Van Buren).

After missing weight by nearly 5 pounds in her last strawweight bout against Marina Rodriguez, she decided to move up in weight. After the move two years ago, Calvillo has now decided to try her hand once again at 115 pounds.

As a flyweight, she went 1-3. Which is a much different run than how she did in the strawweight division. Prior to moving up in weight, she held a record of 5-1-1 in the UFC.

Now she is looking to rebound from a three-fight losing skid as she takes on Brianna Fortino at 125 pounds.

Fortino is coming off of a loss against Tecia Torres back in 2020. Fortino hasn’t competed since the Torres fight as she got married and had a son during that time. The new mother holds a record of 9-3-0 and has gone 1-1 under the UFC banner.

The two are set to throw down on the June 4th Fight Night card which is to be headlined by featherweights Dan Ige and Movsar Evloev.

The card will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada at the UFC Apex.

Make sure to stay up to date at MyMMANews as more fights are added to the card.
