Tecia Torres snaps four-fight losing streak by defeating Brianna Van Buren

The world’s largest MMA promotion is back in Las Vegas, Nevada for the fourth-consecutive week tonight, Saturday, June 20.

UFC on ESPN 11 takes place inside the UFC Apex and is headlined by heavyweight contenders Curtis Blaydes and Alexander Volkov. The co-main event features a featherweight clash between Shane Burgos and Josh Emmett.

The preliminary card features a strawweight bout between Tecia Torres and Brianna Van Buren.

Torres (10-5) is fighting on the same card as her fiancee Raquel Pennington, who is fighting on the main card. Torres is currently on a four-fight losing streak, but it has come against stellar competition. She has lost to former champions Jessica Andrade and Joanna Jedrzejczyk, current champ Zhang Weili and unbeaten prospect Marina Rodriguez.

Van Buren (9-2) will be making her second walk to the octagon. She won her debut last July against Livia Renata Souza. Prior to joing the UFC, Van Buren won the Invicta FC strawweight title.

Here is how the fight between Tecia Torres and Brianna Van Buren went down at UFC on ESPN 11, including round-by-round scoring. For full results of the event, check them out right here.

Round 1

Torres opens with a nice front kick to the body and she follows with a few more kicks.

Van Buren grabs ahold of Torres and pushes her to the fence as she looks for a takedown. After moments of clinch work, Van Buren briefly gets Torres down, but Torres scrambles back to the feet, but the two remain in the clinch.

Two are still clinching against the fence for quit some time, with Van Buren remaining in control, but Torres is doing some work as she is making it difficult for Van Buren to get it to the ground.

Torres eventually breaks free with 1:15 left in the round and she starts teeing off, but Van Burn quickly goes back to the clinch and two go back to the fence. Once again Torres breaks the clinch, but there wasn’t enough time to work as the round comes to an end.

Round 2

Torres comes out trying to keep some distance to avoid the clinch and she’s having success as she is landing bombs.

Torres is having lots of success on the feet, but eventually with just over three minutes left in the round, Van Buren goes to the clinch. Van Buren is trying to secure a takedown, but she’s unsuccessful as Torres breaks free.

Torres continues to win the standup battle with ease and Van Buren does not have an answer for the speed of Torres.

As the round comes to a close, Torres picks up the pressure and lands a bunch of strike to finish the round strong.

Round 3

Torres opens strong as she’s clearly the better standup fighter. Van Buren tries to haunt the Torres momentum, but Torres stuffs the clinch attempt.

The speed is starting to really become a problem for Van Buren, as Torres is ramping up the pressure and is starting to land every single shot she throws.

Eventually, Van Buren finds the clinch, but Torres has great takedown defense and Van Buren is struggling to get the fight back to the canvass.

Torres is out of the clinch and she appears to be 90 seconds away from snapping her losing streak.

Torres finishes the fight strong and should take home the win.
