Bobby Green out-strikes Clay Guida to a unanimous decision

The world’s largest MMA promotion is back in Las Vegas, Nevada for the fourth-consecutive week tonight, Saturday, June 20.

UFC on ESPN 11 takes place inside the UFC Apex and is headlined by heavyweight contenders Curtis Blaydes and Alexander Volkov. The co-main event features a featherweight clash between Shane Burgos and Josh Emmett.

In a long awaited clash of lightweights, Bobby Green and Clay Guida will finally meet in the cage. In 2018, the pair were scheduled to face each other in a preliminary bout at UFC 225. Due to an injury, Green was forced to withdraw from the bout. Guida, however, remained on the card, only to be finished by Charlies Olivera via 1st round guillotine. After that minor setback, Guida bounced back with a huge win over UFC legend, BJ Penn at UFC 237. Guida’s following bout, he would go on to suffer another first round guillotine loss to Jim Miller at UFC on ESPN 5.

Green would move forward dropping back to back decision losses against Drakkar Klose and Francisco Trinaldo. Looking to snap a 2 fight losing streak, Green will face Clay Guida in a bout that’s been two years in the making. These two gritty lightweights are slotted as the closing bout of the UFC on ESPN 11 prelims.

Here is how the lightweight bout between Bobby Green and Clay Guida went down at UFC on ESPN 11, including round-by-round scoring. For full results of the event, check them out right here.

Round 1:

Guida throws a leg kick to start the contest which misses. Green uses his crisp punches to keep Guida at bay. Green fires a teep down the middle, and Guida blitzes forward, getting Green to the floor. Green is quick to his feet, with Guida holding his back tight. Green is able to spin out of it, with Guida landing a left hand upstairs. Guida shoots again, with Green looking to secure a neck. Guida scrambles out and the contest resumes back on the feet.

Guida is looking to move in an out with green utilizing his reach to land straight punches. Green throws a headkick, missing his mark. Guida attempts to grab Guida once again, but is fended off. Both fighters exchange in their own combinations, landing several shots cleanly, but Green is clearly taking the advantage on the feet with his lightning fast hands, range and straight punches.

Guida closes the distance again, lifts Green up and drops him to the canvas once again. Guida grinds Green against the fence, relentless on the takedown. Green lands a few hammerfists, but Guida gets the final takedown to close the round.

Round 2

Green commits first with a punch down the middle , with Guida firing a leg kick. Guida attempts to grab ahold of Green again, but Green is able to fend it off. Green has his hands at his waist now, taunting Guida when he lands his punches. Guida shoots for another takedown but is met with a knee from Green. Green follows up with a few hard punches upstairs as Guida as backed his pace up a bit. Green is coming forward now, with Guida in the Thai clinch and Green able to land a few knees to the head. Guida escapes, and Green continues on him with pressure, forcing Guida against the cage.

Guida is able to get the reversal and gets off the cage. Green has his hands down and his chin forward to tell Guida he is in control of the fight, cracking Guida with several straight punches to add insult to injury. Guida switches levels once more, and Green looks for a neck, forcing Guida to give up on his shot and get out. Green continues the slick punishment, much faster than Guida. Guida fires a hard leg kick in return.

With the clock winding down Guida attempts a head kick while the two get into a bit of an exchange with nothing landing significantly. Guida looks for the last second takedown again which Green rolls with as the bell sounds. MyMMANews scored round 2 for Bobby Green. 10-9 Round 3 Green begins round 3 as he closed round 2. Having his hands down and chin forward, inviting Guida to commit, only to be met by his lightning fast punches that are adding up. Guida comes forward, putting Green against the cage and gets him to the ground.

Green is looking for an arm in an attempt for a kimura. Guida rolls out and the fight stands back up. Guida tags Guida with some more crisp straight shots. Guida throws several leg kicks that don’t meet their mark. Guida lands a left hand and several jabs. The two fighters exchange punches in the center of the cage before Guida forces another takedown. Green works his way back to his feet,looking for a reversal.

In a scramble, Green ends up on top with Guida holding on to a single leg. Green rips Guidas body with some punches to take some gas out of Guida. Guida stays on the takedown, pressing his Green against the fence. Green is able to circle out and the fighters trade briefly before Guida shoots for another takedown. Green hammers Guidas head with punches to close the contest.
