Daiqwon Buckley talks pro MMA debut win over former NBA player Royce White

Daiqwon Buckley wasn’t the one in headlines prior to his fight at LFA 120 as his opponent was the center of attention.

Buckley’s opponent Royce White came into their fight with a lot of media recognition as he was former basketball standout at Iowa State and was taken as the No. 16 overall in the 2012 NBA draft.

After a number of issues as professional basketball player, the former Sacramento King turned his attention to MMA and found himself locked in a cage with Buckley, who is a former high school football standout under legendary Pennsylvania coach Jack Henzes and played one year of college football at Temple University.

In their fight in which with both fighters were making their professional debuts, Buckley out wrestled White to leave LFA 120 with a unanimous decision victory.

Following the win, Buckley talked with MyMMANews about his performance, his decision to leave his hometown in Dunmore, PA to train at Sanford MMA in Florida and his career in law enforcement before becoming a full-time fighter.
