Dana White reacts to Covington’s comments about hitting him with the belt

UFC President Dana White reacts to Colby Covington’s comments about hitting him with the championship belt. White says he’s had worse relationships with fighters than his with Covington.

The discussion with Dana White took place today the Jim Rome Show.

Covington made the remarks about his upcoming title bout against welterweight champion Kamaru Usman at UFC 245 on December 14.  He said that if he wins the belt and White tries to wrap it around his waist, he will slap him with it.

Rome asked White was his reaction was to that comment.

“Eh, same as it always it when I hear things from Colby Covington,” White said. “He says a lot of stupid stuff. That’s the last thing he needs to be worried or thinking about right now.  He needs to worry about Kamaru Usman who hates him.  These two hate each other and stylistically these guys match up perfectly.  They have the exact same style.  This is gonna be a hell of a fight and Colby Covington should be worried about that not whether I’m strapping the belt on him or not.”

White said that he does not have to be friends with the fighters in order for them to thrive in the UFC.  The UFC President briefly discussed his relationship with Tito Ortiz who was with the company for many years.

UFC 245 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and will be broadcast via pay-per-view on ESNP+.
