Brendan Loughnane and David Alex Valente To Open PFL World Championship Card
PFL has it’s championship card coming this month with several fighters fighting for $1,000,000. Contender Series veteran, Brendan Loughnane gets his second fight with the promotion as he takes on David Alex Valente. The card takes place on New Year’s Eve at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden.
Brendan Loughnane was passed on by Dana White on the Contender Series back in June. He put on a performance worthy of a UFC contract but shot for a takedown late in the final round, and action the UFC president scoffed at and passed on Loughnane for. The UFC’s loss is PFL’s gain. Loughnane won his PFL debut against Matt Wagy in October.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to fight at Madison Square Garden on New Year’s Eve. It’s another chance to show the world what I’m capable of. After I win, my focus will be on returning to this stage and winning that million dollars,” said Brendan Loughnane.

“We’re thrilled to have a fighter of Brendan Loughnane’s caliber on our 2020 roster,” said Peter Murray, CEO of PFL. “Next year Brendan will have the opportunity to fight his way to the championship, the biggest MMA event of the year that is quickly becoming synonymous with New Year’s Eve in New York City, and compete for the featherweight title and million-dollar prize.”
Valente comes into PFL in his debut at 11-4 in his career. While he’s on a two fight skid, he will have some experience over Loughnane coming into their fight.
In addition to Loughnane-Valente, PFL’s finals boasts fights between the biggest stars it’s roster has to offer. Fans can look forward to judo gold medalist, Kayla Harrison, Ray Cooper III, and Lance Palmer. It marks the finals of the promotion’s playoff format where all winners win $1,000,000.
