Dana White’s Contender Series will wrap up their seventh season tonight with the tenth and final episode of the season.
History maybe upon the show as 41 fighters have been given a UFC contract this season and tonight, if three fighters are awarded contracts, it will be a Dana White’s Contender Series record for most contracts given out in a season.
One fight to keep an eye on will be between Torrez Finney will take on Yuri Panferov, who are both middleweights with matching 6-0 records.
Finney, 24, has only been a professional fighter for two years, but in that span he has blown away his competition as five of his six wins have come by way of a stoppage. Prior to turning pro, Finney won all five of his amateur fights which means he’s never tasted defeat in his fighting career.
Panferov comes to Dana White’s Contender Series after he impressed White on Lookin’ for a Fight. In that fight at Combat Zone 79, White immediately asked Panferov to come on the show and now he is in the main event.
Like Finney, Panferov also went 5-0 as an amateur which means neither fighter has ever lost and tonight, someone’s 0 has got to go.
Another exciting fight comes in a featherweight bout between Connor Matthews and Jair Farias.
Matthews is retuning to the show after losing to Francis Marshall last season. Their fight was a fun one too watch and last year White said that the fight was good enough to be on a pay per view preliminary card.
Farias is a perfect 10-0 in his professional career and while he’s unbeaten, 2023 has been a come back year for Farias.
Back in June, Farias ended a nearly four-year hiatus by earning a first-round stoppage win on the Brazilian regional circuit. He’s earned finishes in all but one of his victories.
Tonight’s show will feature six fights in total with the action as always taking place inside of the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The show can be streamed on ESPN+ at 8 p.m. ET. A rebroadcast of the event will also be available on ESPN+.
