Darren Till out of UFC London, Chris Curtis in to face Hermansson

The co-main event of the upcoming UFC London card has taken a turn. The scheduled bout between Darren Till and Jack Hermansson is off after Till was forced out with an injury. The nature of his injury has not been disclosed at this time and his timeline for return is not known. However, the UFC has been working quickly and it appears they have found a suitable replacement. Rising star Chris Curtis has agreed to step in against Hermansson.

Curtis is fresh off his win against Rodolfo Vieira at UFC Vegas 57 in June. Since making his promotional debut back at UFC 268 in November of last year, Curtis has linked together three wins including one Performance of the Night bonus. He has proved that he is not afraid of taking a fight on short notice and when this opportunity came up to face the number eight ranked Hermansson, it was too good to pass up.

“3 places I always wanted to fight- Madison Square Garden, Saitama Super arena, The 02 Arena. How could I say no?” Curtis wrote on Twitter.

This is in fact a huge opportunity for the 34 years old but facing Hermansson is no small task. Hermansson has faced some of the best men at middleweight but is however coming off a loss to Sean Strickland his last time out. The Swedish Hermansson could have the hometown crowd behind his at the famed O2 Arena in London, but in his short time in the UFC Curtis has become a fan favorite. His exciting style and happy attitude make him hard to dislike.

UFC London takes place on July 23, live from the O2 Arena in London, England. The event will be a follow-up to another UFC London event held earlier this year which was a great success. Loaded with stars of the UK, the last event say a record number of fight bonuses handed out.
