Denice Zamboanga and Seo Hee Ham on ONE Atomweight GP fight

ONE: Empower goes down on Friday, September 3rd, and emanates from Singapore Indoor Stadium. The broadcast transpires on the ONE Super App and the ONE Championship Youtube channel depending on your local listing.

Denice Zamboanga and Seo Hee Ham will collide inside the ONE Circle in a quarterfinals affair for the Atomweight Grand Prix.

Zamboanga is riding a nine-fight win streak dating back to her amateur efforts and has a spotless professional record. Se has won three straight bouts inside the ONE Circle with her last outing seeing her secure a victory via first-round Americana.

Ham occupies a curious space in the tournament as someone who is a promotional debutant but is regarded by many pundits and fans alike as the best atomweight in the world.

The UFC veteran has collected a myriad of meaningful hardware having garnered the Road FC atomweight championship, the DEEP JEWELS featherweight title, and the Rizin super atomweight championship.

Excerpts from my interactions with both of these tournament participants are below.

Denice Zamboanga excerpt

Are you excited about this Grand Prix title in the sense of making history or are you ultimately wanting to contend for Angela Lee’s title more so?

“You know like having this Grand Prix is the most grateful thing that happened to me. Because I’m gonna fight with the best fighters in the world. Other great fighters, other female fighters are fighting to get the atomweight title. So I think I need to win this Grand Prix to fight Angela Lee.”

Thoughts and feelings on the nuances of the ONE Championship global ruleset

“I really love ONE Championship’s set. It’s actually very similar to the ruleset with the organization that I was in previously (Rizin). I believe this rule set benefits me a lot. It’s a very good ruleset for me.”
