Israel Adesanya

Derek Brunson challenges Israel Adesanya, calls him “The Last Pretender”

Israel Adesanya is one of the hottest young prospects in the UFC today, particularly in the middleweight division.

Upon making his UFC debut earlier this year in Febuary, Adesanya has been leaving fans in awe as he has put on a display of dominance an finished all three of his opponents handily just a few months into his UFC career.

His most impressive victory came last month at the recent TUF Finale, when he made wiley veteran Brad Tavares his own personal live practice dummy as he clobbered him for all five rounds with a violent barrage of strikes to a convincing unanimous decision.

Ever since his destruction of Tavares, the buzz has still been on going for ‘The Last Stylebender’.

Seeing as how Adesanya’s movement and striking style is so illusive and fluid, UFC fans have drawn him in comparison with former long time UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

For Adesanya, this is pretty ironic fans have put in his category with Silva as the young Nigerian-turned-New Zealander has idolized the Brazilian legend for most of his career.

As a matter of fact Adesanya even went so far as to issue a challenge to his hero via his Instagram, unfortunately once Silva got word of Adesanya’s challenge, Silva confessed he did not even know who Israel Adensanya is.

Despite Adesanya not getting his dream fight against his idol, however there is another UFC Middleweight who’s fully aware of the Nigerian’s success but is not impressed by it, and wants a chance to prove that the young prospect is nothing but hype, UFC Middleweight top contender Derek Brunson.

The North Carolinian recently put a video tweet, throwing his name in the hat to face Adesanya later this year, more specifically on November 3 where the UFC will invade Madison Square Garden once again.

In the video, Brunson expressed how Adesanya talks too much and looks to shut him up, then took a shot on his nickname referring to him as “The Last Pretender”

“You talk too much,” Brunson said in the caption for his post, which included a video. “Nov 3, UFC 230 Madison square garden, pull up. This finna be a breeze. The last pretender Adesanya.”

“Listen here,” Brunson said in the video itself. “You run your mouth a lot. You talk a lot. You mention my name a couple times. Now I mention your name, boy. November the 3rd, Madison Square Garden, UFC 230. Pull up. Embarrassment party. I’m going to embarrass you, boy. You talk too much.”

Though there hasn’t been any sort of discussion about making this fight happen, you can bet, after seeing an hearing  Brunson’s words towards the Adesanya, it won’t take long for Dana White an company to get it done.
