Derrick Lewis is now in the UFC records books as he owns the record for most knockouts in the promotion’s 28-year history.
“The Black Beast” entered the octagon tonight at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas with 12 knockouts to his credit with the world’s most prominent mixed martial arts organization. Lewis shared the record with Matt Brown and former UFC light heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort. Behind that group are Thiago Santos, Anthony Johnson, and former middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
In the UFC Vegas 45 main event, Lewis was slow to start as he felt his opponent, Chris Dauakaus, out before pulling the trigger.
Lewis threw a switch kick and continued to press forward, putting Daukaus down with a big right hand before referee Mark Smith called a stop to the action.
Derrick Lewis now holds the UFC knockout record with 13.
