Derrick Lewis misses ceremonial weigh-ins, will not fight at UFC Edmonton
Heavyweight Derrick Lewis will not compete in tonight’s UFC Edmonton fight card as scheduled. “The Black Beast” did weigh-in on Friday morning for his bout against Jhonata Diniz but later did not attend ceremonial weigh-ins.
The cause of the medical issue that will prevent the fight from happening is unknown, although the promotion said it was not related to Lewis’ weight-cut.
The card, headlined by former two-time UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno and surging Amir Albazi at 125-pounds, will go on without the bout.
In the co-main event slot, former women’s flyweight champion “Thug” Rose Namajunas takes on submission ace Erin Blanchfield.
