Devonte Smith and Alex Da Silva added to Feb. 6 UFC event

Devonte Smith and Alex Da Silva will meet in the middle of the octagon at the UFC event on February 6. The news emerged Wednesday morning, first reported by James Lynch. Indeed, the fight will take place on a fight night card, with a big heavyweight headliner between Alistair Overeem and Alexander Volkov.

Devonte Smith and Alex Da Silva – 2021 Clash

Smith has been on the sidelines for over a year now, nursing a torn Achilles tendon. Prior to the injury, Smith (10-2) looked incredible. First, his solid performance on the Dana White Contender Series earned him a UFC contract. Following that quick finish, the FactoryX Muay Thai fighter continued to rack them up. Then, in his debut against Julian Erosa, he showed he belonged with a 46-second knockout. Essentially, Smith was utterly dominating until he ran into Khama Worthy’s left hook. Looking to replicate that success, is Brazilian, Da Silva (21-3).

On the other hand, Da Silva enters the bout with a definite experience edge. Further, Da Silva is actually the younger fighter with more bouts under his resume. For that reason alone he’s dangerous, but given the versatility of his finishes makes him even more so. Falling short at UFC 253: Adesanya vs. Costa against Brad Riddell, the Brazilian finisher intends to get back in the win column at the event on February 6. Despite just having one win under the UFC banner against Rodrigo Vargas, the Brazilian has shown he’s capable of quick starts. Certainly a fight no one will want to miss.

At the moment, the promotion has yet to confirm other bouts for the event on Feb. 6.
