Khama Worthy gets short notice UFC 241 call up, faces Devonte Smith

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania’s “Deathstar” Khama Worthy received the biggest news of his professional mixed martial arts career this week.  After illness forced Clay Collard from his UFC 241 bout against Devonte Smith, Worthy takes the opportunity on just a few days notice.

Worthy posted on his personal Facebook account: “The last 24 hours have been crazy, We stay ready so we don’t have to get ready. We are ready to put on a show for everyone.”

With Collard out, Worthy becomes the third name submitted as an opponent for the fight card which takes place in Anaheim, California.  John Makdessi was the first originally named opponent, but he pulled out from injury and was replaced by Collard.

Worthy has won five straight fights and most recently defeated Adam Ward for 247 Fighting Championships in July. He is the number one ranked lightweight in Pennsylvania according to Tapology.com.

Smith earned his UFC contract last summer with an impressive win on Dana White’s Contender Series.  Since then he has earned two UFC victories including wins over Julian Erosa and Dong Hyun Ma.
