Dhiego Lima retires from MMA despite having UFC fight booked
Welterweight fighter Dhiego Lima has announced his retirement from MMA despite having an upcoming UFC fight booked with Miguel Baeza.
Lima took to his social media this week to reveal he has made the decision to retire from MMA at age 33. That’s despite Lima recently accepting a fight against Baeza set for April. Instead of taking that fight, Lima has decided that he is retiring from MMA after hearing from God that it is his time to walk away. Take a look at the statement that Lima posted on social media as he announced his retirement from mixed martial arts.

Dhiego Lima: THANK YOU ALL!! OBRIGADO A TODOS!!! Hey guys I am making this post to announce that I will be retiring from fighting. My timing and Gods timing is completely different, I feel like I’m in my prime, but he has bigger and better plans for my life. I know when God speaks to me, and he was clear that my fighting days are over. Thank you for everyone that has supported me through this journey. One thing I do is obey God even when I don’t want to and that’s a lesson, I hope you take from this, his plans are always better. Thank you @ufc for my career and always taking care of me I will be around as a coach there because I have plenty of young guns that will make it, and I will be there for them!!
Lima (15-9) began his pro career in 2010. The brother of Bellator star Douglas Lima, the younger Lima went 4-7 over two stints in the UFC, plus he also had two separate stints on The Ultimate Fighter. He picked up some solid wins during his career, including victories over Court McGee, Chad Laprise, and David Michaud.
We here at MyMMANews want to wish Dhiego Lima the best in his retirement from MMA.
