Diego Ferreira is out of his upcoming fight with Drew Dober on November 7th due to illness sources tell My MMA News. Ferreira tells us that due to illness, he is forced to withdraw from the fight with Dober. Weather or not this is COVID is not yet known to Ferreira.

Ferreira and Dober were originally scheduled to fight on May 2nd before the event was canceled due to the COVID pandemic. The two were rescheduled to fight on November 7th on the undercard of Glover Texiera and Thiago Santos in the UFC APEX arena. Now, that fight is off the books. It is not known if the UFC will seek a replacement for Dober.

Ferreira and Dober were two new and fresh names in the lightweight division and looked to snag a Fight of the Night bonus.

Diego Ferreira and the rising tide

Diego Ferreira gained much attention after dismantling Anthony Pettis at UFC 246 in January. He ran through the former lightweight champion, wining via rear naked choke in the second round. Riding a six fight win streak in the lightweight division, Ferreira was one of the dark horses of the division.

Dober came into the fight with Diego Ferreira riding a wave as well. He won three straight and his most recent was a blistering performance against Alexander Hernandez. Ferreira was a crack at the top of the division for Dober.

UFC APEX still has plenty of fantastic fights, including a stellar main event. Glover Texiera and Thiago Santos are set to fight in a light heavyweight number one contender fight. Brendan Allen, Xiaonan Yan, Andrei Arlovski, and Tanner Boser all are on the card as well as the UFC continues their pandemic schedule.
