Diego Sanchez debuts at featherweight in Mexico
The only active fighter from the original cast of the Ultimate Fighter (still in the UFC), will make his move to featherweight in November.
After fighting in the Octagon at middleweight, welterweight and lightweight, Diego Sanchez will make the move to the 145-pound featherweight division on Saturday, November 21 to take on longtime contender Ricardo Lamas in UFC Fight Night action at Arena Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico.
Tickets for the event, which is headlined by the welterweight bout between Kelvin Gastelum and Matt Brown and that will air live on FOX Sports 1, go on sale on September 11.
One of the most popular fighters in the UFC, Sanchez has battled the best in the world for over a decade, but following his June 2014 win over Ross Pearson, the Albuquerque standout decided to test the waters in the stacked featherweight division. Looking to spoil his debut in the Monterrey co-main event is Chicago’s Lamas, a former world title challenger who has won six of his last eight bouts.
