Erin Blanchfield vs. Molly McCann set for UFC 281

Erin Blanchfield got her wish of fighting at UFC 281.

After Blanchfield’s last win she was vocal about wanting to fight at UFC 281 as she wanted to fight near her hometown. On Thursday, she took to Instagram to announce she will face Molly McCann at UFC 281 on November 12 in Madison Square Garden. The main event of the card will see Israel Adesanya defend his middleweight title against Alex Pereira in a highly-anticipated bout.

Erin Blanchfield (9-1) is coming off a submission win over JJ Aldrich back in June and prior to that, she scored a decision win over Miranda Maverick. In her UFC debut, she beat Sarah Alpar by decision. Blanchfield is currently just 23-years-old and used to fight in Invicta and beat the likes of Brogan Walker, Kay Hansen, and Victoria Leonardo on the regional scene while her lone loss is a controversial split decision against Tracy Cortez. She’s also currently ranked 13th at flyweight.

Molly McCann (13-4) is on a three-fight winning streak and has become a massive star as of late. She entered her fight last September against Ji Yeon Kim on a two-fight losing skid and was fighting for her job. She then won a decision in the Fight of the Night and after that had back-to-back fights in London,

McCann was a massive star in London and she wowed the crowd with a spinning backfist KO over Luana Carolina and followed that up with a TKO win over Hannah Goldy in July. The Brit is currently ranked 15th and is 6-3 in the UFC with other wins over Diana Belbita, Ariane Lipski, and Priscilia Cachoeira.

With the addition of Blanchfield vs. McCann, UFC 281 at MSG is now as follows:

  • Israel Adesanya vs. Alex Pereira – for the middleweight title
  • Erin Blanchfield vs. Molly McCann
