Francis Ngannou says he wants to fight Jon Jones

Francis Ngannou is fighting Junior dos Santos this weekend, but the heavyweight has his eyes on another opponent. That is current UFC light heavyweight champion, and arguably the greatest of all-time in Jon Jones.

Although they currently aren’t in the same division, it still would be a very interesting fight. Ngannou has incredible knockout power, and no one has better game plans than Jon Jones.

“Personally, I mean, it would be a good fight, first of all for the fans, for me, yes. Even though Jon Jones is a light heavyweight, this guy has made his legacy, dominating the whole division. He’s a big dude,” Ngannou said to TMZ Sports. “I met him once, we almost, we are the same height, we are almost the same thing. I might just have a few pounds on him. That would be a legit fight. I’m here for the challenge, but I just want to take things one at a time. I don’t want to mix them up. But yes, I would definitely want that fight.”

With a win over Junior dos Santos at UFC Minneapolis, it is believed that Ngannou will be fighting for the title. Should he win that fight over the then-champ (the winner of Daniel Cormier vs. Stipe Miocic) that is when the fight would make the most sense. Jones could move up and look to become a champ-champ and secure his legacy even more as the GOAT.

But, if Ngannou wins, it shows he is one of the best heavyweights ever. It is a very interesting fight and one that the UFC would no doubt get behind. It would be a big payday for both fighters and one of the biggest fights the UFC puts on that calendar year. And, it is a fight that many would have a tough time picking who would win.
