Francis Ngannou is the current UFC heavyweight champion after defeating Stipe Miocic by knockout in the second round of their title fight in March of last year. Prior to that title shot, Ngannou had won four straight UFC fights, over some of the biggest names at heavyweight, via first round knockout. Ngannou knocked out Curtis Blaydes, Cain Velasquez, Junior dos Santos and Jairzinho Rozenstruik in a combined 162 seconds to finally get this rematch against Stipe Miocic.
Ngannou first fought Miocic for the title in January of 2018. He earned this first title shot by winning his first six UFC fights by finish in either the first or second round. In the title fight he was defeated by unanimous decision after having trouble dealing with Stipe’s wrestling. He followed that loss up with a lackluster decision loss to Derrick Lewis in July of 2018 where he looked hesitant to throw his weapons. After this Ngannou went on the incredible four fight first round knockout stretch to earn his rematch. It took Ngannou so long to get his second title shot due to the Miocic vs Cormier trilogy that took place for the UFC heavyweight title.
Ciryl Gane has won his first seven UFC fights, including his recent TKO win over Derrick Lewis to win the interim UFC Heavyweight Championship. Gane’s notable wins include a TKO victory over Junior dos Santos and decision wins over Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Alexander Volkov. Prior to starting MMA in 2018, Gane was a professional muay thai fighter with a 13-0 record.
