Fresquez Productions Fight Night 4 Results

On Friday, November 30, Fresquez Productions hosted Fight Night 4 at the newly remodeled Showroom inside the Isleta Resort & Casino. An eight-fight card featuring three amateur and 5 professional mixed martial arts contests.

The amateur card got going with Lydia Warren cracking Alexandra Castillo with right hands, eventually taking the fight to the ground and finishing the fight with a first round rear naked choke. In the second amateur fight Alex Cardenas pressured Matthew Corenero to the fence, timing perfectly a step-in knee has Corenero went for a level change. Corenero would fall to the ground, Cardenas getting the finish after a few follow up ground and pound strikes. The final amateur back saw Cole Griego take Aaron Taylor to the ground, took the back, and finished with a rear naked choke in the first round.

Kicking off the pro card Henry Barahona took, short notice opponent, Andrew Sosa to the ground, softened him up with elbows, finishing the fight with a kimura from side control in the first frame. The women took to the cage next for a 3 round back and forth affair. Kail Robbins pushed forward with hooks & overhands, while Celine Haga played the matador firing off a variety of left hands and elbows. After 15 minutes the judges saw the split decision in favor of Kali Robbins. Next came Chris Brown against Warren Stewart, also a short notice opponent. After taking an incidental thumb to the eye, Chris Brown would you back actions to close the distance, battering Stewart with knees from the clinch. Brown would also complete several take-downs, taking the back, but Stewart would continually escape Brown’s submission attempt. All three judges saw the decision in favor of Chris Brown.

The co-main event Ricky Esquibel squared off with Marquis Smith. This fight was neck and neck after the first round with both fighters scoring take-downs. In the second Smith would again be take down, this time reversing the position. Esquibel from his back quickly caused a scramble, getting up with his back against the fence. From here Smith would open up with knees & punches, throwing strikes until ref Robert Romero would jump in waiving off the contest.

In the main event Steve Garcia immediately lowered his stance to be eye level with the shorter Cullum. Garcia then started to fire off sniper like left hands. Cullum countered with big hooks cornering Garcia attempting to initiate the grappling exchange. Garcia would stuff the Cullum take-downs, leading to Cullum going to his own back. Garcia would follow to the ground and outside of an illegal knee to Cullum’s head, Garcia would devastate Cullum with heavy ground and pound. Busting Cullum open on the right side of his skull above his ear and nearly closing Cullum’s right eye. After five rounds the judges returned a unanimous decision in favor of Steve Garcia Jr., in the bloodiest fight I have ever seen live.
