Gene Perez at Jackson’s MMA Series XXVI: “This Is My Time Now”

The perpetual underdog Gene “The Kid” Perez is in that role again has he will face Jerome Rivera in the main event of Jackson’s MMA Series XXVII, in Rivera’s hometown.

The event takes place at Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino, a place Perez is very familiar with.

“I’ve fought at Buffalo Thunder a couple times, three times in the main event. I know what it’s like to go in there and be the underdog. I just got to be in there and be ready to put it together.”

Each time at Buffalo Thunder, weather it’s in the ring or the cage Perez finds himself in the under role.
“He’s the home town guy, from Santa Fe, (NM). He’s a strong kid, really tough. I know I have to push him to the limits and see if I can get him to break. I know I’ll get him to break. I just to push it on him.”

Perez knows fighting a prospect like Rivera is a big opportunity.
“For me it’s an opportunity to rebound from my last fight. It’s my time to come back. This is my time now.”

How do you pull off the upset?
“I have to go in there and make him uncomfortable. I’m hoping to take the decision from him. I’m hoping he’s willing to stand.”
