VIDEO: George Roop Breaks Leg During Road FC Fight
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter George Roop sustained a gruesome leg break during a mixed martial arts contest in Seoul, South Korea, over the weekend.
Roop (15-13-1) was competing against Yoon Jun Lee (11-2) at Road FC 31 when the injury happened early in the first round. Roop threw a front kick that caused the break. He then fell backwards and lay on the canvas before being taken out on a stretcher.
In the video it appears as if the bone may have come through skin as there is blood on the canvas near Roop’s leg.
In the video below the contest can be seen around the 10:50 mark.
“The break was clean and not fragmented,” officials stated in a press release. “Roop will undergo immediate surgery and recovery in Wonju. His doctor estimates six months to full recovery.
“ROAD FC wishes to convey its appreciation for George Roop’s participation in Xiaomi ROAD FC 031. We are very sorrowful that Roop experienced such a traumatic ending to his fight, and we wish him a speedy and full recovery.”
