Giga Chikadze out of UFC Vegas 60 co-main event against Sodiq Yusuff, replacement sought after
Next week’s UFC Vegas 60 has taken a hit as Giga Chikadze has been forced out of his co-main event scrap against Sodiq Yusuff.
According to MMAJunkie, and later confirmed by MyMMANews, Chikadze has suffered an injury and withdraw from UFC Vegas 60. The hope is to find a replacement to face Yusuff on just over a week’s notice. UFC Vegas 60 goes down on Saturday, September 17 from the UFC Apex and is headlined by a bantamweight bout between Cory Sandhagen and Song Yadong.
Giga Chikadze (14-3) hasn’t fought since January when he suffered a decision loss to Calvin Kattar in a main event fight. Prior to that, the Georgian picked up the biggest win of his career as he knocked out Edson Barboza in the main event of a Fight Night card after scoring a first-round body kick TKO against Cub Swanson. Chikadze is currently 7-1 inside the Octagon and is ranked eighth at featherweight.
Sodiq Yusuff (12-2) returned to the win column last time out as he beat Alex Caceres by decision back in March after losing to Arnold Allen by decision in April of 2021. The 29-year-old is 5-1 inside the Octagon and has also beaten the likes of Andre Fili, Gabriel Benitez, Sheymon Moraes, and Suman Mokhtarian while he earned his way into the promotion by beating Mike Davis on the Contender Series. He’s currently ranked 12th at featherweight and it’s uncertain if he will get a chance to face another ranked opponent on short notice.
