Giga Chikadze predicts he will finish Max Holloway inside two rounds
UFC featherweight Giga Chikadze predicted that he will finish former champion Max Holloway inside two rounds if they meet inside the Octagon.
Chikadze improved to a perfect 7-0 in the UFC with his third-round TKO win over Edson Barboza at last weekend’s UFC Vegas 35 event. It was a huge win for Chikadze over a top-10 fighter, and it will push him one step closer to getting a matchup against one of the featherweight division’s upper-echelon fighters. If Chikadze had his choice, that would be Holloway, the former champion who is coming off of an incredible win over Calvin Kattar earlier this year. Following that win, Holloway claimed that he is the best boxer in the UFC, and Chikadze wants to fight him in order to prove to Holloway that he’s actually the superior striker.
Speaking to TMZ Sports following his win over Barboza, Chikadze explained why he wants to fight Holloway.
“I know the guy (Holloway) who was calling at the beginning of the year that he’s the best boxer in the UFC. So when you feel like you’re the best striker, it definitely includes the title to be the best boxer, best kicker. I feel like I’m the best striker. I just beat one of the legends. I outstruck him in all different ways.” Chikadze said.
“When I called this guy out (Holloway) before, he just gave this interview that, ‘yeah, I know this Giga guy who kicks or whatever.’ But guess what? I’m just not just a kicker guy, I kick the sh*t out of the people. I mentioned this (after the fight), I want to face him inside the Octagon and tell him what’s up.”
As for a prediction for how the fight would go, Chikadze sent a cold message to his potential future opponent.
“Finally, you know my name. You’ve seen what I’ve done to Edson Barboza, it took me just two-and-a-half rounds. If you step inside the Octagon with me, I’ll make sure I’ll finish you inside two (rounds),” Chikadze said. “If he thinks that he is the best 145er, that time has come. Now it’s a different time. Now the world circles around me. It’s Giga time.”
