Glover Teixeira vs. Thiago Santos postponed again after Santos tests positive for COVID-19
It’s the other way around for Glover Teixeira and Thiago Santos.
After their first date was postponed due to a positive COVID-19 from Teixeira, UFC President Dana White confirmed Santos also tested positive for the coronavirus. White addressed the initial report from Combate at the Dana White Contender Series 33 post-fight press news conference on Tuesday, Sept. 15
The two will not fight on Oct. 3 and the bout has been postponed to an unknown date. Santos and Teixeira were originally slated to faceoff at UFC on ESPN+ 35 on Sept. 12. Teixeira’s positive test led to the bout being postponed to Oct. 3.
Santos last competed inside the octagon over a year ago. He required surgery after tearing ligaments in both of his knees during a split-decision loss to former champion Jon Jones at UFC 239 in July 2019.
The loss snapped a four-fight win streak for the Brazilian. His run included wins against Jan Blachowicz, Jimi Manuwa, Eryk Anders and Kevin Holland.
Glover Teixeira is currently on a four-fight win streak. Teixeira is coming off a fifth-round TKO win over Anthony Smith at UFC on ESPN+ 29 on May 13. The 40-year-old also beat Nikita Krylov, Ion Cutelaba and Karl Roberson.
