Grant Dawson willing to rematch Ricky Glenn following majority draw at UFC Vegas 41
UFC lightweight prospect Grant Dawson says he is willing to rematch Ricky Glenn following the pair’s majority draw result at UFC Vegas 41.
Dawson met Glenn in the co-main event of this past Saturday’s UFC Vegas 41 card. For Dawson, he was 5-0 in the UFC entering the fight was a 5-to-1 betting favorite to get the win over Glenn. However, after winning the first two rounds, Dawson got tired in the third, Glenn took over, and two of the judges scored the third round 10-8 for Glenn, which caused the fight to be a majority draw. Since no one likes a draw, there has already been chatter among fans about a potential rematch.
Speaking to MMASucka.com’s James Lynch in a post-fight interview, Dawson was asked if he would be willing to give Glenn the rematch, and he said he would be open to that fight.
“He asked me for a rematch in the cage. Sure. I’m down for it, whatever. I don’t really think that I have anything that I have to prove with him. The thing that I have to prove is that I can fight three rounds and I don’t have cardio issues even though that’s not what I showed in this fight. I can do that with Ricky or with another guy. It really doesn’t matter to me. There’s no way I’m going to get a ranked guy after this, there’s no way I’m going to get the fights I wanted after this. Whatever the UFC and my management team and (coach) James Krause tell me to do, that’s what I’m going to do. If it’s Ricky, that’s fine. If it’s Joe Blow, fine. Whatever they tell me I’m going to do. I’m in no position to make demands right now. I’m going to work my way back,” Dawson said.
