Holly Holm interested in Aspen Ladd for UFC return fight
Former UFC bantamweight champion Holly Holm (12-5) was set to rematch Raquel Pennington at UFC 243 in October but had to withdraw from the fight due to injury.
“The Preacher’s Daughter” was coming off a knockout loss from the UFC 239 title bout against current champion Amanda Nunes. Now that Holm has been on the mend and is looking to return to the octagon, the former champion has a timeframe and opponent in mind.
“Early next year,” coach Mike Winklejohn told BJPenn.com. “She ripped a lot of muscle on her tendon working out one day and it is one of those injuries that you need to let heal. We will be seeing her soon.”
Holm was supposed to fight Aspen Ladd at UFC 235 but pulled from that contest to take on Nunes at a later date. Winklejohn thinks the Ladd fight is the one to make.
“Aspen Ladd would be great, we love that fight,” her longtime coach said. “Especially after what she said when Holm got the title fight and that fight never happened. So, Holly would love to get in the cage with that young lady. I don’t know, Raquel Pennington is there still there.”
