Holly Holm vs. Ketlen Vieira set to serve as Fight Night main event in May

Holly Holm will return to the Octagon in May in a five-round affair.

According to MMA reporter, Ariel Helwani, Holm is set to take on Ketlen Vieira in the main event of a Fight Night card on May 21. The location of the event is unknown at this time but the fight has been agreed to by both sides.

Holly Holm (14-5) has not fought since October of 2020 on Fight Island where she defeated Irene Aldana in a main event scrap, it marked her second win in a row after defeating Raquel Pennington at UFC 246. The second-ranked bantamweight in Holm was booked to face Julianna Pena in May of 2021 but she was forced out of the bout. She was then set to move up to featherweight to fight Norma Dumont in a main event but once again had to pull out due to an injury.

Holm is the former UFC bantamweight champion and holds notable wins over Ronda Rousey, Megan Anderson, Bethe Correia, and Marion Reneau. The decorated boxer never defended her belt as after knocking out Rousey, she suffered a submission loss to Miesha Tate at UFC 196. She then dropped a decision to Valentina Shevchenko and despite losing two in a row fought Germaine de Randamie for the inaugural featherweight strap and dropped a controversial decision.

Ketlen Vieira (12-2), returned to the win column back in November as she defeated Miesha Tate by decision in her first UFC main event. She’s just 2-2 in her last four as she has alternated wins and losses with a decision loss to Yana Kunitskaya, a decision win over Sijara Eubanks and she suffered her first loss by KO to Irene Aldana at UFC 245. The Brazilian is ranked fifth at bantamweight and also holds wins over Cat Zingano, Sara McMann, and Ashlee Evans-Smith among others.

With the addition of Holm-Vieira, the May 21 card is as follows:

  • Felipe Colares vs. Chase Hooper
  • Alexander Gustafsson vs. Ben Rothwell
