Ilima-Lei Macfarlane breaks out in song after winning flyweight championship

Ilima-Lei Macfarlane had just won the inaugural Bellator MMA women’s flyweight championship when she was whisked backstage to speak with media during Friday night’s Bellator 186 fight card at Penn State University.

Macfarlane talks about winning the gold in a tought title fight against Emily Ducote, vacation plans, longevity in mixed martial arts, and even breaks out in song.

“I was feeling good on my feet. Everybody says I’m not a striker.  They say I don’t have any hands.  Well, those people on the internet say that.  I shouldn’t be looking at the internet before my fight but I did. I’m like ‘I’m gonna show them that I can strike.'”

At the 5:53 mark in the video above is when MacFarlane breaks out her favorite song.  Says she is upset she lost her voice because she wanted to go sing karaoke.

MacFarlane talks about being one of few champions from Hawaii, people breaking into her car and stealing her belongings, and visiting the Amish.
