Irishman Patrick Lehane to face Hugo Flores in Combate Global “USA vs Mexico” One-Night Eight-Man Tournament
Undefeated Irishman Patrick “The Leech” Lehane (3-0) is set to step in on less than a week’s notice to face Mexican Hugo “Hooligan” Flores (9-3) in a lightweight bout as part of Combate Global‘s one-night eight-man tournament this Friday 12th November. MyMMANews confirmed the matchup on Monday afternoon.
On Thursday 4th November, Combate Global announced the “USA vs Mexico” tournament, a one-night event that would see four fighters from Mexico and four fighters from USA compete in a lightweight tournament, featuring USA and Mexico brackets. The quarterfinal and semifinal stages pit native countrymen against each other, with a USA vs Mexico final at the championship stage.
The tournament’s quarterfinal and semifinal stage bouts will each consist of one, five-minute round, and the championship stage bout will consist of three, five-minute rounds.
Hugo Flores was originally scheduled to battle fellow countryman Daniel “Scrappy” Soto (15-5) in the quarterfinal stage of the tournament, but the Guadalajaran fighter will now face SBG Cork City’s Lehane. Despite being an Irishman, Lehane will represent team Mexico in the tournament.
Friday night will be the second tournament-style event Lehane competes in as a pro. “The Leech” debuted in a four-man Combate Global tournament in August, knocking out Maxime Giacalone in the first round of the final. In September, the young Corkonian went on to defeat Isaac Ruelas via Split Decision in a bloody war, bringing his pro record to 3-0.

Flores has traded wins and losses in his last four fights. “Hooligan” will make his sophomore outing under the Combate Global banner, having most recently defeating Alexander Torres in his promotional debut back in July.
The winner of Lehane vs Flores will go on to the semifinal stage of the tournament, where they will face the winner of Cristian “Puas” Perez (6-0) vs Miguel “The Destroyer” Villegas (8-2).
The event will be shown live on Paramount+ with the first bout beginning at 10pm ET (3am Irish time)
