‘Ironman’ Jim Miller gets his 34th victory with vicious right hook TKO at UFC Fight Night: Walker vs Hill

Jim Miller does it again

UFC Fight Night: Walker vs Hill goes down in Las Vegas tonight inside the UFC Apex.  In the main event, light heavyweights collide as Johnny Walker (18-6) tries to get himself back in the top mix of the rankings after losing 3 of his last 4 contests.  Walker had won his first 3 in the UFC before the current streak.  Jamahal Hill (9-1) has won 3 of his 4 UFC fights and is coming off of a first-round finish of Jimmy Crute that took just 48 seconds to land a devastating right hook and end it.

In the co-main event, Kyle Daukaus (10-2) fights at a catch-weight of 195 lbs against Jamie Pickett (13-6).  Daukaus has had terrible luck with opponents continually falling off and Pickett stepped up on a couple weeks’ notice which is why we have the 195 lb limit.  In October, Daukaus looked like he had a knockout over Phil Hawes in his last appearance in October, but after replay, it was ruled a no-contest due to an accidental double headbutt.  Pickett has won his last two and comes off of a unanimous decision win in January against Joseph Holmes.

In a featured matchup in the lightweight division, we have Nikolas Motta (12-3) making his UFC debut after earning a contract back in 2020 on Dana White’s the Contender Series and having fights cancelled three different times since that time.  Motta entertains future UFC Hall of Famer Jim Miller (33-16).  Miller is fighting for the 38th time inside the UFC’s Octagon.  His ability to be available and make weight is unmatched including dealing with Lyme’s disease along the way.  Miller has fought some of the best fighters in the world and now gets to test his resolve against a young and hungry newcomer.  This is a very intriguing match-up.

Round by round action, official score, as well as scoring from MyMMANews for the Miller-Motta fight is is below:

Round 1

Feeling out process for the 1st minute of the fight and Motta does clip Miller with a right but a quick recovery.  Miller with a very nice leg kick that stumbles Motta.  Miller continuing to look for that calf kick and getting close with his left hand. Motta seems content on countering as Miller leads.   Miller has landed 9 leg kicks so far and now Motta stumbles back and Miller has him pressed up against the cage. And back to the center they go.  Close round ends with another inside leg kick from Miller
MyMMANews scores round 1… 10-9 Miller
Round 2
Miller again opens the round with that calf kick, and it looks effective as he has landed 3 in the 1st 30 seconds.   Motta continues to try to counter, and Jim Miller lands a gigantic right hook as he moved in that sends Motta to the ground, and he is rocked and down.  Miller pounces on and continues the onslaught with both lefts and rights and referee Keith Peterson has to stop the fight.

Official score:  Jim Miller wins via TKO referee stoppage due to strikes 1:58 R2
