Isaac Doolittle on Jared Warren, BKFC 23, and title eliminators

Isaac Doolittle clashes with Jared Warren in the co-feature of BKFC 23. This bare-knuckle bout goes down on April 8th at Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas.

I spoke with Doolittle ahead of this one and excerpts from our chat are below.

Doolittle’s BYB 185 title fight falling out and how the path became redirected to BKFC competition

“So that was an interesting endeavor. They gave us a call and since I was getting yanked around by BKFC, I decided well they’re going to give me a title shot, I’ll go with it. Since Jomi (Escoboza) went over to BKFC. They offered me a contract and I agreed verbally to fight Joey Angelo. Then BKFC as soon as they started using the promo. We hadn’t signed any contracts. Soon as they started putting my face on promos BKFC, they got into a tiffy. Because they were coming back to Wichita and they wanted me to fight.”

“They told us that Joey had not one but two contracts with the BKFC that he had signed. Those have no-compete clauses in them. So he was in a bit of a tangle. I already verbally agreed to fight Joey and I told the organization that if I can fight Joey for the title, I will sign the contract. Because I already agreed, I’m a man of my word. But if not, I’m gonna go with BKFC.”

“They’re currently offering me more money. They’re offering me in an open card scoring state. All the things that I kind of want and need. They could not settle on giving me Joey as my opponent. So I’m not going to sign up for an unknown opponent this high in the game.”

If this Jarred Warren bout could be a title eliminator

“(Lorenzo Hunt) He is going up against (Joe) Riggs. So I’m assuming the winner of this is going to go up against him next.”

If this Warren fight resembles the kind of high octane collision that Doolittle leans into

“I’m hoping to put him away in the first three but I’m ready to go all five. That’s been the case. It’s kind of the unstoppable force meets the immovable object. So we’ll see who wins that age old question.”
