Jake Paul To Take Layoff, Focusing on Amanda Serrano vs. Katie Taylor
The infamous Jake Paul is planning a seven month layoff from competing in the boxing ring as he now sets his sights on finalizing promoting the women’s superfight bout between Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor according to The Mirror. Paul signed Serrano to his promotion, Most Valuable Promotions, and plans on getting Serrano her fair share of the pie when it comes to a payday.
In the past 13 months, Paul has competed four times, beating Nate Robinson, Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley twice. Now he sets his eyes on the promotion aspect of the sport. A bout with Serrano and Taylor will undoubetably be the biggest women’s boxing match of all time. Serrano held the WBC, WBO, and IBO World Female Featherweight titles before vacating and moving up to lightweight. Katie Taylor, a superstar in her own right, holds the WBC, WBA, IBF, and WBO World Female Lightweight titles.
The bout would be co-promoted with Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn and would look to get record paydays for both Taylor and Serrano. Paul has been vocal about fighter pay, especially with the UFC, and is working to improve pay for women in boxing as well.
