Jamahal Hill calls out Jiri Prochazka following KO win over Johnny Walker at UFC Vegas 48
UFC light heavyweight contender Jamahal Hill called out Jiri Prochazka following his brutal KO win over Johnny Walker at UFC Vegas 48.
Hill knocked out Walker in the first round in devastating fashion for the biggest win of his UFC career to date. With the victory, Hill improved to 5-1, 1 NC overall in the UFC, and he will likely slide into the top-10 at 205lbs after taking out Walker, the No. 10 ranked fighter. For Hill, he is now riding a two-fight win streak by knockout after finishing Jimmy Crute in his last fight in late 2021. Although he did lose to Paul Craig last June at UFC 263, Hill is still very much considered one of the top up-and-coming light heavyweights. Although a title shot is still a couple of wins away, Hill has earned a top-10 ranked foe next.
Speaking to the media following UFC Vegas 48, Hill was asked who he wants to fight next. Although there are plenty of interesting options in the top-10, many of the top-ranked light heavyweights are currently booked for other fights. However, No. 2 contender Jiri Prochazka currently does not have a fight booked. Although most believe he will be next in line to fight UFC light heavyweight champion, Glover Teixeira, that fight has not been booked yet. So if Prochazka is available, then that’s the fight that Hill wants.
“Everybody else is tied up and then the way that they fight, the reason I want Jiri so bad is I feel like that’s a fight that, from both ends, it would be a banger,” Hill said (h/t MMA Mania). “It would be a banger. I think it would be promoted well. Not too many other people have that star ability. I feel like I talk well, I feel like I dress well, I feel like I fight well. I feel like I’ve got that swag. And I feel like he was one of those guys.”
Prochazka is 2-0 in the UFC with knockout wins over Volkan Oezdemir and Dominick Reyes. Again, he is likely next in line to fight Teixeira for the belt, but if that fight isn’t next, then Hill would gladly fight him.
