Jamahal Hill, former UFC light heavyweight champion, due back in court on Jan. 22 for alleged domestic dispute charge

According to online records, former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill is due back in court Jan. 22 after he was arrested in Michigan for alleged domestic violence last week.

According to records, the fighter was booked at a Kent County jail on Nov. 27 and facing one misdemeanor count of aggravated domestic violence after he allegedly injured his brother during a physical altercation.

Hill, 32, was released later that night and maintains optimistic that the court’s ruling will play out in his favor.

Records state that the alleged victim is James Anthony Hill Jr., and charges include inflicting “serious or aggravated injury upon him.”

The former champion released a statement this past weekend on his YouTube channel.

“At this time, it’s an open case,” Hill said. “I’ve been advised not to speak on it, which I know not to speak on it. I just can’t wait for the truth to be told in court. I will wait for that day, and I look forward to that day.

“The people who know me and know my character and truly, truly rock with me and know who I am, hold on to that and stay true to that. That’s all I’m gonna say on that.”

Hill’s manager Brian Butler of SuckerPunch Entertainment also released a statement.

“The recent “click bait” headlines about @JamahalH were based on an alleged dispute between him and his older brother.

“Jamahal adamantly maintains his innocence and denies the false accusations. We will not be commenting anymore about this until the truth comes out in court.”
