Jon Jones responds to Tom Aspinall’s call to strip the champ
Jon Jones is not having any of Aspinall’s crap. After Tom Aspinall called for Jones to be stripped for inactivity, Jones let it be known on Twitter that his longevity should speak for itself.
After capturing the interim title, Aspinall was interviewed by Michael Bisping and said the following:
“I think Jon Jones should be stripped from the title to be honest, because everyone else does when they get injured like that,” Aspinall told Michael Bisping. “I don’t see why he’s still got it. I don’t understand that. I think I should be the real champion right now.
“It’s hard to say without sounding rude, but who’s asked about Jon Jones and Stipe anymore? Why do we get this legacy fight, and they get to live by their own rules? What’s a legacy fight, a retirement fight for a title? I want to fight Stipe and then I want to fight Jon Jones. I think all this other stuff is rubbish. Stop protecting him now. Stop protecting your boy Jon Jones at the top. If he’s injured, get out of the way and I’ll fight Stipe.”
Jon Jones did not like that. Not. One. Bit.
Jon Jones responds to Tom Aspinall
Aspinall’s words sparked a response from the heavyweight champ. While Tom Aspinall may have the interim strap, Jones reminds the Brit who he has been for a long time.
I’ve faced the absolute toughest competition this world had to offer for 15 years now. During camp for a title defense I sustained a major injury that required surgery for the first time in my career. Now I have newcomers requesting I get my championship stripped. Zero wins over…

First off, Andrei Arlovski is catching strays out here with Jones “Zero wins over legends,” comment. Aspinall has a win over the former champ.
But Jones brings up a good point. His longevity has been unrivaled. Many have called for his downfall. But he’s always prevailed despite the calls for his head with each and every controversy that has come with a Jones reign.
Tom Aspinall had one response to Jones:
You’re right. Sorry Jon https://t.co/6JWgipi7Eg
