Jamahal Hill maintains undefeated record, stops Ovince Saint Preux at UFC Vegas 16

Jamahal Hill still perfect

Surging middleweight talents Jack Hermansson and Marvin Vettori headline UFC Vegas 16 tonight, Saturday, December 5, 2020.

After his first two opponents withdrew, Darren Till and Kevin Holland, No. 4 ranked Jack Hermansson now faces No. 13 ranked Marvin Vettori in the five-round main event.

Co-headlining the event is a light-heavyweight bout between Ovince Saint Preux and Jamahal Hill, a very interesting match up between two very dangerous talents.

‘OSP’ has been with the UFC since 2013, and has had some very impressive outings here within the worlds leading promotion, while Hill just made his promotional debut earlier this year in January.

There was one huge factor coming into this fight, and you may have guessed it, experience. Hill came into this fight with a record of 7-0 (1 NC), his no contest stemming from a failed drug test (marijuana) earlier this year, a fight he won via first-round knockout.

Saint Preux came into this fight with a record of 25-14. As mentioned above, he’s got some really great wins on his resume, but he’s also lost some fights he probably shouldn’t have. We knew we were in for a treat in this bout regardless of who came out on top, they’re both very exciting finishers.

Round 1

There’s a feeling out process in the first couple minutes between these two, before Hill starts opening up with some nice crosses and round kicks to the body.

Saint Preux lands a few hard calf kicks and takes Hill off balance with them in the middle of some exchanges, once Hill switched back to southpaw. Both men did a good job of landing both their punches and kicks throughout round one, but Hill did a little more throughout the round.

Round 2

One thing is evident at this point once round two starts, Hill has the speed advantage between them. Saint Preux goes back to the calf kick and has success with it, we can tell they were hurting Hill.

Hill also continues having success with his punches though and has Saint Preux hurt momentarily. Saint Preux is starting to look more labored after eating a ton of strikes, while Hall still appears to have all his energy.

Hill tees off on Saint Preux while Saint Preux’s back is to the fence, lands a boatload of punches, and that was it, the fight was stopped.

Official Result: Jamahal Hill def. Ovince Saint Preux via TKO at 3:37 of round two

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
