Jamahal Hill vs. Thiago Santos headlines UFC Fight Night event in August

UFC light heavyweight contenders Jamahal Hill and Thiago Santos are set to headline an upcoming UFC Fight Night event in August.

After the matchup was leaked on social media earlier this week, MMAjunkie.com confirmed that Hill vs. Santos is happening, and the fight will be the main event of a UFC Fight Night card on August 6. At this time, we do not yet have the date or location of the event. There is a chance the card could take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, but the world’s leading MMA promotion has been traveling to other locales as of late, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see another U.S. city land this great matchup.

Hill (10-1, 1 NC) is the No. 10 ranked light heavyweight in the UFC. The 30-year-old American is coming off of back-to-back KO wins over Johnny Walker and Jimmy Crute where he looked like a top contender in the UFC light heavyweight division. After losing to Paul Craig last June, Hill has done nothing but win, and he now gets the chance to fight one of the division’s highest-ranked fighters in Santos. If Hill can get past Santos in this fight, then he will enter the elite of the UFC’s 205lbs division.

Santos (22-10) is the No. 6 ranked light heavyweight in the UFC. Now 38 years old, Santos has clearly seen his better days in the UFC. He has lost four of his last five fights overall, with his lone win in that stretch being a bland decision win over the aforementioned Walker. That being said, Santos is still one of the most experienced fighters in the weight class, and he still has some power. Hill will surely be the favorite here based on youth and his recent knockouts, but Santos can never be counted out of a fight.

Who do you think wins this pivotal UFC light heavyweight bout between Jamahal Hill and Thiago Santos?
