Jamie Mullarkey edges Michael Johnson on scorecards in exciting battle at UFC Vegas 58
Epic battle between Jamie Mullarkey and Michael Johnson opens UFC Vegas 58 main card
The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to us tonight, July 9, 2022, for UFC Vegas 58, going down live from the UFC Apex in Enterprise, Nevada.
Headlining the event is a pair of ranked lightweights in former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos (no. 7) and multi-time kickboxing world champion Rafael Fiziev (no. 10).
Co-headlining is a middleweight showcase between relative unknown talents Caio Borralho and Armen Petrosyan.
Opening up the main card tonight was a lightweight bout between Michael Johnson and Jamie Mullarkey.
Johnson just snapped a four-fight losing streak with his KO victory over Alan Patrick back in May, while Mullarkey is coming off a defeat to Jalin Turner, following back-to-back knockout wins over fellow knockout artists Khama Worthy and Devonte Smith.

Official Result: Jamie Mullarkey def. Michael Johnson via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)
Johnson drops Mullarkey with a vicious two-punch combination about three minutes into the first round, and Mullarkey shoots on a takedown. After being sprawled out for a considerable amount of time, the two are back to striking range and Mullarkey hurts Johnson, this also a two-punch combination.
Mullarkey gets his leg kicks going more in the second, and lands a thunderous overhand right, and from here on out he had his range. Mullarkey goes on to land three separate head kicks, the final of which hurt Johnson, and he also nearly put Johnson away with a series of punches and knees.
It appears it’s 19-19 going into the third and final round.
Mullarkey did well landing some hard strikes in the first half of the third, while Johnson began to crack him throughout the second half. Both men hurt one another many times throughout this straight up war tonight at UFC Vegas 58.
